Summer in Greece (4)

Ok guys, first of all happy Monday. ;-) This week's post will be again travel related. I will continue our " a summer in Greece" series, this time it's all about the island delos. As I told you in the last post, you can go from mykonos to delos by ferry and this is exactly what I did. After half an hour I arrived at delos.

The great thing about it is, that absolutely nobody lives here, you can only spot a few explorers doing their research and of course tourists. the island was not always that inanimate. Thousands of years ago the old greeks believed that the god Apollo was born here, that's why you can spot so many antique ruins. In this temples they praised him with gifts and all that stuff.

So back in the now I started to explore the temples on my own, but if you want to you can book a guide

I went to a museum and afterwards to a real nice coffee shop. After my stop at the coffee shop I prepared myself for a hike up on a hill, from there you have a incredible view over this UNESCO world heritage. But if you are planning to do the hike than please do not forget to pack lots of water and mabey something like a hat, because as I mentioned in my previous posts, there is nearly no tree.

Also Leute, erst einmal frohen Montag. ;-) Diese Woche gibt es wieder mal einen Reisepost, heute über die Insel Delos. Man kann von Myknos mit der Fähre nach Delos fahren und man braucht ca. eine halbe Stunde.

Das coole an der Insel ist, dass absolut niemand hier lebt, außer ein paar Forschern und Touristen ist hier niemand zu entdecken. Aber die Insel war nicht immer so unbewohnt, vor tausenden von Jahren haben die alten Griechen hier dem Gott Apollon Opfer gebracht, da er auf Delos geboren worden sein soll. Viele dieser Tempel sind heute noch erhalten, manchen in einem besseren und ander in einem weniger besseren Zustand.

Zurück in der Gegenwart habe ich mich erst einmal auf gemacht die Ruinen zu erkunden, aber wenn ihr das nicht alleine machen wollt könnt ihr euch auch eine Tour buchen. Danach habe ich mich in ein Caffe gesetzt und das Museum besichtigt. Als ich fertig war habe ich mich auf gemacht auf einen Nähe gelegenen Berg von dort aus hat man einen tollen Blick auf das UNESCO Weltkulturerbe. Aber wenn ihr plant das zu machen bitte nehmt viel viel Wasser mit.
