SUMMER IN GREECE (3)

This week's post is about Mykonos, only one of the many islands I have been to on my island hopping trip. At 7 o'clock in the morning I was standing at the port waiting for the ferry to Mykonos.

So when I first was abled to see the island I thought that it is tightly covered in buildings. There is an offer, that an other boat takes you from the modern port to the old port of mykonos.

From there you can reach the city of Mykonos. It's very small and touristic, the total opposite of Tinos. Tinos is not one of these islands where you can spot a lot of tourists, but mykonos is one of these spots. Here you can see a lot of young people.

When I finally arrived I first sat myself down and ordered a cool drink at the kafenion. But please watch out and choose the right restaurant (they can be pretty expensive). After that I took a walk through all the cute little narrow streets and I also walked through a residential area called "little Venice".

From "little Venice" you can see the five windmills (kato mili). I also visited the old church panagia paraportiani.

After the walk I sat myself down again and enjoyed the gorgeous view over the kaikis (greek cutter), yachts and sailing boats. From this dockyard a little boat sails in the direction of delos. But this will be a new post.

SOMMER IN GRIECHENLAND (3)

Mittlerweile bin ich endlich bei einer anderen Insel angelangt. Nicht das ich es nicht genießen würde über das wunderschöne Tinos zu erzählen, aber manchmal muss man ein bisschen Abwechslung haben :-P. Also da stand ich nun um sieben Uhr morgens, am Hafen von Tinos. Als man nach einer Weile, dann endlich die Umrisse von Mykonos sehen konnte, habe ich gesehen, dass die Insel viel dichter besiedelt ist als die anderen Kykladen Inseln.

Im modernen Hafen angekommen kann man auf ein kleineres Boot um steigen, das einen dann in den alten Hafen bringt. Von dort aus kommt man sofort in die Stadt. Mykonos Stadt ist klein, überschaubar und sehr touristisch, also das komplett Gegenteil von Tinos. In der Altstadt angekommen habe ich mich erstmal in einem kleinem Cafe

niedergelassen und einen kühlen Drink bestellt. Nach meiner kurzen Pause habe ich mich aufgemacht durch Mykonos kleine Gassen zu schlendern und da kam ich durch ein Viertel namens "kleines Venedig", von dort aus kann man die berühmten Windmühlen sehen.

Hier steht auch eine sehr nette alte Kirche und man kann über den Hafen sehen. Von dort aus bin ich, nach einem sehr schöne Tag nach Delos gefahren.
